Bangabandhu satellite-1 program remains on schedule

With SPI acting as their guide, Bangladesh remains on track in its journey to join the other space fairing nations of the world. The project continues on schedule with a successful completion of the system and satellite Preliminary Design reviews earlier this spring. The Thales-Alenia program team is undertaking final preparations for the system and satellite Critical Design Reviews to be held early in the fall.

The Bangabandhu satellite-1 will provide much needed telecommunications and broadcasting services to Bangladesh and the surrounding southeast Asia region. The system has been design with highly robust communications links to offer an unparalleled quality of service to the region. The satellite is intended to be launched in December of 2017. Bangladesh will manage the communications network and operate the satellite on-orbit.
