Welcoming Bangladesh Into Space! Congratulations on the Successful Launch of Bangabandhu-1

Congratulations to the Government of Bangladesh for the successful launch on 11 May 2018 of its Bangabandhu Satellite-1 (“BS-1”), the country’s first national communications satellite system!

BS-1 is a critical component of the “Digital Bangladesh” vision, conceived and overseen by the Honorable Sajeeb Wazed Joy, who serves as an advisor to the Government of Bangladesh, to enable ubiquitous digital communications capability throughout the country. Digital Bangladesh and the BB-1 program have been strongly supported by the Honorable Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina.

Congratulations also, and many thanks to our teammates at BTRC, Thales Alenia Space and SpaceX, and the many others who worked collaboratively with us at Space Partnership International (“SPI”), to take this project from initial concept to operation, and everything in-between, over the past few years!
